Professor Yury Gogotsi: Biography, Journal Articles, Papers, Books, Conference Presentations

Dr. Yury Gogotsi Distinguished University and Trustee Chair Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering and A.J. Drexel Nanotechnology Institute Drexel UniversityDr. Yury Gogotsi is Distinguished University Professor and Trustee Chair in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel University. He also holds courtesy appointments in the Departments of Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Drexel University, and serves as Director of the A.J. Drexel Nanotechnology Institute. He served as Associate Dean of the College of Engineering from 2003 to 2007.

Yury Gogotsi΄s research group works on all kinds of nanostructured carbons and other nanomaterials. His research is focused on the fundamental and applied aspects of synthesis and characterization of carbon nanomaterials (nanotubes, nanodiamond and nanoporous carbons), ceramic nanoparticles (whiskers, nanowires, etc) and composites. He has also contributed to theareas of structural ceramics,corrosion of ceramic materials, and pressure-induced phase transformations,creating a new research field called high pressure surface science and engineering. His research is focused on the fundamental and applied aspects of synthesis and characterization of carbon nanomaterials (nanotubes, nanodiamond and nanoporous carbons), ceramic nanoparticles (whiskers, nanowires, etc) and composites. Currently Gogotsi΄s team in Drexel Nanotechnology Institute develops and studies new nanomaterials and works closely with industry with the goal to significantly decrease the time from discovery to commercial application of new materials.

He has co-authored 2 books, edited 13 books, and obtained more than 40 patentsand authored more than 300 peer-reviewed papers, including more than 10 papers in Science and Nature family journals.

Alexei Gogotsi, materials Research Centre DirectorOleksiy Gogotsi (Alexei Gogotsi, Alexey Gogotsi) is Materials Research Centre Director.

Oleksiy Gogots i participated in international scientific research and development projects, international conferences, has co-authored several scientific articles, reports and publications in the field of materials science, carbon materials, nanomaterials, development of high-temperature fluidized bed furnaces.

Professor George A. Gogotsi is a lead researcher at the G. S. Pisarenko Institute for Problems of Strength of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the R&D director of the Materials Research Centre. His scientific interests include the behavior of various fragile materials (ceramics, single crystals, glass, refractories) under mechanical and thermal loading over wide temperature ranges and the physical processes controlling their deformation and fracture.

Now Gogotsi is the chairman of the Technical Committee on Engineering Ceramics of the State Standard of Ukraine and a member of the editorial board of the Russian journal Ogneupory (Refractories). In 1999, he was elected as professor of the Institute of Materials (Great Britain).
In addition to research and engineering activity, Gogotsi worked as a sports, engineering, and science journalist for Ukrainian newspapers and magazines. He participated in the preparation of the first Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia.

3.jpg - 197.81 KbOur organization in Kyiv, Materials Research Center, is well aware of the needs in Ukraine now. Together with our partners, fellow Ukrainian scientists, we have organized a warehouse in Lviv, where we collect cargos and distribute them throughout Ukraine, with detailed reports confirming the delivery to the final destination, including photos of the transfer. We have transportation that can pick cargo in Poland and deliver it through a green corridor for humanitarian cargos at the Polish-Ukrainian border. 
We are ready to respond promptly, as required by the situation in Ukraine. If there are individuals, foundations or volunteer organizations willing to send help to Ukraine from Europe or the United States, we are ready to accept it in our warehouses, make collection or individual parties according to your request and pass them on to those in need. All humanitarian aid, first aid, and protective gear will be delivered to the final destination.

Director of Materials Research Center Dr. Oleksiy Gogotsi and young researcher Veronika Zahorodna visited NAP-2021 conference on nanomaterials held on September 05-11, 2021 in Odessa, Ukraine.

The prime focus of this conference, held annually since 2011, is on the nanoscale materials with emphasis on interdisciplinary research exploring and exploiting unique physical and chemical properties of these materials for practical applications.
