Professor Yury Gogotsi, a leading world scientist, gave a lecture in Bratislava on new types of 2D materials at the auditorium of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) in Bratislava, May 29 2019.
This was the first lecture from a series of invited world-class scientific capacities, organized by the SAS together with the Learned Society of Slovakia. Professor Gogotsi works at Drexel University in Philadelphia. In his lecture he introduced a new type of inorganic 2D materials, talked about their aplication for energy storage, in optoelectronics, plasmonics, shielding of electromagnetic interference, electrocatalysis, medicine, biosensors, desalination and purification of water and other areas.
The lecture certainly attracted chemists, physicists, scientists working in material and biomedical research, scientists, but also students. Thematically, however, it is interesting for the broad scientific community.
Gogotsi also serves as Director of the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute. His research group is working on nanostructured materials and 2D carbides for energy and biomedical applications. He is the co-author of two books, more than 600 articles in peer-reviewed journals and more than 50 patents. He is a recognized scientist and has an H-index of over 110. He has won numerous awards for his research.
