NANO2DAY project participants from the Materials Research Center (MRC), Kiev, Ukraine, Alexey Gogotsi (MRC project leader) and Veronika Zahorodna (early-staged researcher, in the framework of international scientific cooperation on the Horizon 2020 program, visited the partner organization Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA, on September-October 2018 in accordance with the travel plan on the project to perform planned project activities.
MRC project participants worked closely with researchers from Drexel University, studied the latest developments of colleagues from the Institute of Nanomaterials University Drexel (under the guidance of Professor Yury Gogotsi) in synthesis of two-dimensional nanomaterials MXenes, their processing and practical applications for different purposes. Participants from MRC together with researchers from Drexel synthesized MXenes for the NANO2DAY project needs and further research.

H2020-MSCA-RISE project „Multifunctional polymer composites doped with novel 2D nanoparticles for advanced applications NANO2DAY” started on May 1, 2018. It is aimed to develop novel multifunctional composites with outstanding electronic and mechanical properties by incorporation of novel MXene nanosheets into polymer matrixes. |
Professor Maria Omastova from Polymer Institute, Slovak Academy of Science, Bratislava, Slovakia, visited Materials Research Centre, Kiev, Ukraine, in July-August 2018 due to the Horizon-2020 prgram, Maria Sclodovska Curie Actions Research and Innovation Staff Exchange, NANO2DAY research project. Professor Omastova was acquainted with the activities and research infrastructure of MRC project partner, she held several seminars on polymer composites and talked about the experience and developments of her institute. During her visit project participants held several project meetings to discuss further research works, MXene synthesis and MXene-doped polymer composites. |
NANO2DAY project participants from Materials Research Centre, Kiev, Ukraine, MRC director and project leader Oleksiy Gogotsi and ESR Veronika Zahorodna are working in Polymer Institute, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava, Slovakia under the project secondments plan. MRC project participants work in close cooperation with researchers from Polymer Institute, share their experience in two-dimesional nanomaterials (MXene) synthesis and take over the experience and study the developments of colleagues on polymers and composite materials.
